Products are created from 100% solid sterling silver metal and are based around Kick in the Eye's distinctive handmade link chain.
A conscious effort is made to use metal stocked from recycled metal suppliers where possible as to not support the present mining industries. All gemstones used are man-made synthetic items, holding the same atom structure and hardness as their natural forms.
Kick in the Eye is proud of its handmade nature - all items have made from scratch out of sheet and wire metal. Products that have been put through the lost-wax casting process were originally created/carved out of wax by hand. As for the hand crafted nature of kick in the eye products, flaws such as visual imperfections may be present but do not interfere with the quality or comfort of the jewellery. Although each item follows the same format of creation, one may vary slightly from the next.
When listed in product descriptions, all chunky clasps, butterfly earring backings and fine chain are manufactured from outside sources.
Kick in the eye is a sole trading business, independently run by Antonia Pantazis - a multidisciplinary Melbourne based creative who originated from a background in fine art (graduating from The Victorian College of the Arts in 2015). With a sturdy conceptual base, the artist expanded her creative skillset in a direction closer to her primary interests in fashion by organically following a path that led her to complete a Diploma of Object and Jewellery Design in 2018. These traditional jewellery making skills provided a basis to build upon other techniques by exploring self-taught untraditional methods of production, in which the majority of Kick in the Eye products are made.
